Located in South Beach's busy nightclub district, Brandt's Break Pool Hall has
roughed out a distinguished space for itself. Brandt's Break is split into two
functions: one half houses a full service bar; the other half sports nine pool
tables. A thick snaking concrete bar top sits on a base of yellow and red aniline
dyed harlequin patterned plywood. The pool tables rest on a concrete slab with a
simple black pipe rail border. Both the bar top and slab are lit from below with
additional spot lighting to enhance the playing and serving surfaces. Other details,
such as trapezoidal blackboards for the back bar wall, wall mounted game tables,
and projected images help to single out Brandt's Break as an innovative hangout.
